BBC
New wireless guest networks, installed and managed by Building Zones, are transforming the experience of visitors to the BBC’s Media Village site and the new Pacific Quay Scottish Headquarters.
The two sites have been piloting the new technology with the aim of improving the experience of staff, consultants, freelancers, service partners and other organisations working with the BBC. The desired benefits were an increase in space utilisation and improved collaboration between the BBC and its external service providers.
BDP
BDP, one of the largest interdisciplinary design practices in Europe, wanted a wire-less LAN for its stunning new 33,000 square foot northern England headquarters overlooking the Piccadilly Canal Basin in Manchester.
Deploying Wi-Fi correctly in a large multi-floor building is not easy. Once access points are in place and operational, radio signals can be muffled, deflected, and blocked by building materials, office machines, and even people.
Kinnarps
At its UK Headquarters, Kinnarps has developed a workplace showcase demonstrating the benefits of utilising the latest 2nd generation wireless technology.
Kinnarps has benefited from the use of wireless technology for the past 5 years, and was one of the first companies to “cut the cable” to the desk. However, Kinnarps was aware of the limitations of the “first generation” wireless technology; including dropped sessions, insufficient coverage, lack of throughput and inadequate security.
Mace
Mace Construction Site First to Benefit from Wireless Internet Access
Mace Limited, the management and construction company, is the first construction company to utilise the latest wireless technology to provide internet access for contractors at a project site. Mace has used innovative wireless technology designed and installed by Building Zones Ltd to give contractors at its Lime Street project site access to the internet from anywhere on-site, using portable devices such as laptops and PDAs.
